With a madbean total recall- it's an EHX deluxe memory man clone. This will be my first pedal build and it's one of the more complicated ones but I'm confident I can handle it.

The biggest pain is that it isn't a kit- madbean provides you with the PCB, wiring diagram, schematic and some calibration notes, and it's up to you to source all the components. I spent most of the morning going over the parts list and filling up smallbear and mouser shopping carts with about 60-70 odd components, double and triple checking to make sure I didn't accidently select the wrong values.

I think it'll be fun and I can get an effect that I've always wanted but either couldn't afford or passed up for other things when I could. Total cost for all the components is under $120

It does sound like fun and once complete you can gloat in the success. I have desired doing mods myself but have yet to actually do any.

I’ve thought about this, as well. Mostly so I could paint the enclosures. Lol

I have a problem with paint.

I can't figure out what I'd do with the enclosure, I'm not very creative with graphic art and would probably just use an embossing label maker to label the knob functions, lol.

If I could rip off the original EHX DMM graphics and have them silk screened I'd do it, but I have no idea where to start in pulling that off.

I'm not creative or talented either.

It doesn't even slow me down.

As far as enclosures, I've done a few and I'm definitely not an expert painter.

The ones in the photo were done purely as cosmetic (no internal mods) and just for "something to do".

It was my first experiment with a burst. I did them with rattle can lacquer and waterslide decals. They turned out okay, so don't be too worried about doing yours. If I can do it, anyone can ;^)

I've only done a couple of minor internal pedal mods. The one I did most extensively was a Joyo Ultimate Drive which is supposed to an OCD clone.
It still worked when I was done, so I considered that a win! (it def sounded better too)

I've built about a half a dozen of the MOD kits DIY pedals so far, and I find it very enjoyable.

If I still had good nearfield vision (depth at close range for things of that nature is bad on a good day with one shot retina), I'd be all over the DIY stuff.

These days I just have people do it for me!

Will do. I'm trying to send a pedal I bought recently back to sweetwater for a refund, which will fund this project, I haven't been able to stay on hold long enough on breaks from work to get ahold of the sales rep:)

Talk to any rep, doesn't have to be yours.
