No, Mike, not yours. As soon as this rain stops it gets painted!

I think I made mention of this guitar somewhere. A couple months ago I kicked off a couple of project guitars - a Strat and a Nashville Tele. My thought was/is to sell them.

The Nashville Tele is still waiting to be wired but I finished the Strat today.

It is sounding righteous! I'll finish the setup later. I just ball-parked intonation and string height to get some noise out of it.
Alder body from USA Guitars (Reverb). As you can see, I took the unusual route of doing a burst on alder. Why be normal? It's a hand-rubbed water stain burst. I sprayed it with frosted pearl clear and then clear, so it has a little sparkle going on in the right light. This guitar would look awesome on-stage.

Mint green plastics.

Bridge is 2 7/32" spread.

Neck is a Warmoth. I stained it vintage amber and sealed it with Tung Oil. It has a very natural wood feel to it - but very smooth too.

Neck specs:
Boatneck (.98" deep right behind the first fret)
1 11/16" tusq nut.
22 - 6130 frets (low/wide) leveled, crowned polished.

Pickups are lefty-stagger Tonerider Pure Vintage. This is my first go with these and they are an instant favorite of mine! CTS pots and CRL switch. Tones wired to neck and bridge pickups. I chose a 279K pot for the volume to give the guitar a hint more bite and presence. But this is still vintage-sounding.

Guitar weighs 7lbs. 10oz.

This thing is a very nice Strat! It won't break my heart if it doesn't sell. (-:

Nice one Leftee!

I'm jealous that my project has slowed to a crawl.
(or should I say a limp??? ;^)

I thought you'd like the Toneriders. Hard to beat for the price.

re: natural finish on alder, it certainly can work. The one I did has some pretty nice figuring imo.

That is nice work all around. I really like the look of the Flying Tiger on the headstock too.

You got skillz!

Thank you!

I dig this hand-applied burst thing. I have a LP kit, in the wings, with a spalted maple top that I’ll get to some day.

But now I’m back to painting again. Burgundy Mist Metallic, to be precise.

Really nice work there Lefty! I like the satin finish also.

I'm also interested in those Tone Rider pickups and wanted to know which magnets were used in the Vintage set? A3's? Yeah, I could look them up but have been really wanting to try an A3 set because of all the hype towards vintage tones and decent aggressiveness, while keeping good balance.
If I may ask, Did you get the pickups from the Amazon site or???
The boat neck carve is really comfortable for me also. Long fingers and fills the palm nicely!
I like your work!!

I bought them on Amazon, yes. They’re the TRS1 set. The box doesn’t say what mags.

That satin look is the magic of photography. It is a gloss finish. That’s the frosted pearl you see underneath.

I don’t see where it says what mags they use.

I do really like this stagger, though!

I can see I’m going to have issues trying to sell this. Yours isn’t the only comment about a satin finish.

This guitar is hard to “get” from pictures. I’m going to have to haul out the big gun and shoot outside on a bright but cloudy day.

That combo in the bridge explains its relatively pleasant tone for a Strat bridge pickup.

It’s listed on Reverb. We’ll see what we see.

And if I end up with another Strat in the stable that is fine. *Especially* this one.

I built this to sell. It’s not like I need another Strat.

LOL

Having said that, it might not sell. I’m not going to give it away. But I thought I’d stick a toe in this pool.
