I’ve just agreed to buy this, but can’t find a photo of any in this finish. Any ideas why that is?

It's probably one of two possibilities:

1. A special order ("FSR" or factory special run) for a retailer such as GC, Sam Ash, etc.

2. It was originally a Mustang 90 (available in that two-color sunburst...see pic below) that a previous owner had pulled the original 2x P90 pickguard from and installed a modern Mustang pickguard and pickups. They are interchangeable.

Ahh... I’m fairly sure the chap didn’t change the pickups, so I’m assuming it’s a special option somewhere. It seems you can’t even get them without maple fretboards generally. I prefer the look of maple fretboards, but for the price I’m very happy.

Cool. There still are good deals out there if you're patient and shop around.

Welcome to the FDP.

It's a FSR, see the badge on the back of the headstock?

So is that a good thing? Or just an inconsequential detail? I’m paying half of retail for it.

Slight update. Got the guitar and love it. Definitely got the upper hand over my squire. Really really nice.
So is the FSR thing a bonus?

Not necessarily; it's mostly a marketing gimmick. Just limited numbers and limited availability.

Don't get too excited though because FSRs aren't especially collectible or more valuable than a standard model produced in higher numbers.

What matters is you got a really nice guitar at a fair price!

Yea, it's pretty much a "do you like it?"

It won't sell for any more than a similar model in the same range (if it's a MIM Standard or equivalent, that's what it'll get priced like)
