Decided to join Chris in the D-42 club.

It was a six month wait to order my Custom D-42 and it was well worth it!

Basically, I ordered a Pre Reimagined 2018 D-42. These were the "Custom" features:

* 1 11/16" nut

* Mod V neck identical to the one on my beloved D-45V

* Ivoroid binding

* High gloss neck

* Premium sitka top with no runout

It looks and sounds fantastic! Taking it to Gryphon tomorrow for installation of a K&K pickup. I see this as my primary gigging instrument.

Having trouble with IMGUR, so I posted a link to the UMGF where pics are posted.

Congrats and enjoy. I hadn't been over to UMGF for awhile. Looks like one needs to log in to view the picks. That's OK. I'm sure it looks great.

If they send me a new password, I'll log in and take a look. Cool that you got the mod-V neck. I don't mind whatever the neck profile is on mine but I like the HD-28V better.

Can't log in with the new password so if you get the photos elsewhere, let us know. Meanwhile, congrats!

Thanks guys!

When you order a Custom you never know for sure what you're going to get. But I sure couldn't be happier with this one!

You're old. Then vintage. Then good!

Congrats on a gorgeous customized "upper tier" Standard Series Martin!

After getting my J-40, I can say these 40+ style Martins are something special - even though it's brand new, it bests the tone of my 2015 D-35...it just as more, like it goes to 11.

My Martin D-42 is now old enough to consume alcohol.

Thats right, I bought it new in November of 1997.

Sandbagger:

My D-45V was made in 1997 and I've owned several other Martins from that year, including a D-42 I should never have sold.

Something about 1997... it was a GREAT year for guitars built by Martin!

Congrats 6L6! I put a K&K in my D-42, also. Most natural sounding pickup I've ever heard in an acoustic. You will love it!

I've been playing both my D-42 and HD-28V recently. I just love acoustic guitar.
