FDP Forum / Fender Amps: Vintage (before 1985) / Jensen 'Special Design' vs Seemingly Identical Jensens?

Hi officianados, hoping to learn something: seems very difficult to get information on the speakers in vintage tweed Fenders, particularly info on what the 'special design' was on the stickers. Seems as though I ran across a tidbit once where the special design was that the tweed Fender amps were pushing the speakers so hard that the voice coil former was slamming into the back of the of the magnet housing and damaging the former, so a design was put in that would minimize that, and that it essentially had the effect of adding 'mechanical' clipping to the sound output (along with the electronic clipping in a tweed pushed too hard). Would like to know 1) if that's true- by anybody that has CERTAIN knowledge of what exactly the 'special design' was and 2) if speakers NOT labelled special design have normal voice coils. I ask because I see a lot of say, P10R speakers with 'concert series' being billed as the same speaker that say, Bassman's came with (for less money) but I am wondering if anyone knows DEFINITIVELY if this is correct or not? IOW, are Special Design speakers EXACTLY the same as ones not labelled as such?

Overhung coil vs Underhung Coil design.

Sounds appropriate

I was thinking of former construction or maybe cone construction/composition would have been the difference.

in the 1950s It's well known Chicago Jensens had a serious issue of the resin failure in the VC when overheated (being pushed excessively) the paper former (excellent sound qualities!!!!... not so good in heat dissipation.) often fried out...
