I bought a Fender Jazz bass (The new Player Series)
I’m noticing that it’s a very bright / glassy sound. I plugged into a Acoustic 15W bass Amp and a Ashdown 30W for testing . I don’t recall this tone from the earlier MIM Jazz Basses. I called Fender support today and they verified its Alnico 5 pickups. When I turn down the tone the bottom end is very thin.. Funny .. last night I played an Affinity Jazz at a local GC not knowing what pickups were in that bass and it had the total bottom end i was use to hearing same with the VM .. Any help with the Fender Player Series ??

Congrats on your new bass. The 2017 MIM's and older had ceramic pups which are much hotter giving more thump and less highs. Your new mim is more like an old american standard as far as pups. You might come to like it in time, in the meantime teak your amp to compensate.
