I bought one of these from Amplified Parts, last month, during their holiday sale. The description seemed to be right in line with my preferences.
“Warm, smooth and open with strong, throaty note definition complemented by crisp, clear highs.
Lows: Fat
Mids: Firm
Highs: Smooth
Overdrive: Smooth”
I bought one for my Epi Valve Junior 1x12 cab.
This is a great speaker. The description, above, is good. And I found that, running my Boss SD-1w in front of the amp yields a lovely, snotty midrange that just rocks.
Since the sale is still running I just ordered a pair of 16 Ohm for a yet to be acquired 2x12 cab.

I haven't played through the Nighthawk ceramic versions but I've owned both 12" and 10" higher wattage Jensen alnico offerings before the Celestion Golds came out. I was really pleased with both of them. I ended up switching to the Celestion offerings but it wasn't because I was disappointed with the Jensens which were a bit more edgy. Maybe aggressive and throaty are better descriptors. The Celestion golds sound smoother to my ears.

These have a midrange “honk” that is a bit unique. I don’t know what I’d compare them to. But I like!!!

Yes "honk" is the best way to describe it. It is easy to recall in my mind so it definitely made an impression.

I was regrilling my old Marshall SS combos (other thread) so I stuck one of these in the 75 watter. It kills in that amp!
