Bunion surgery is a go for me on Thursday. Not looking forward to it or the time I'm off of my feet.

Mine is at the base of my right, big toe. He cuts the bone and moves it over so the toe is in the correct position, then pins the bone. A bunion is the base of the toe angled out so it protrudes out. I've had this for over 40 years...and now it bothers me.

Off of my feet for a few days but hopefully wearing a boot after that so I can at least walk. Kind of.

I'll probably start more threads during that time!

Good luck! I had ops on my legs as a toddler and I'm just waiting for something to fail. The bunion could be first on the list if the knees don't pack up before then. No doubt you'll be better afterwards.

A piece of cake, I pray all goes well. I don’t know how they do it but I’d want a local so I watch the proceedure.

I’d of liked to see how they put the titanium rod in my femur, my Dr. Said “No you wouldn’t” Thinking about it now he’s probalby right. “o) It was a trauma case and they had to rebuild my hand at the same time.

Tell the doc you'd like to keep your big toe in formaldehyde. Bring a mayonnaise jar.

Huge mojo for a successful outcome, Steve.

Check YouTube for some instructional videos, you could probably do it yourself at home.

I hope it all goes well, Steve. My sister-in-law had this surgery. She is a runner and the surgery hasn't slowed her down.

Thanks for the positive thoughts.

Ragtop, if I could pick up some Versed, I’ve got a Dremel, with a rotary saw.
Shoot up, start sawing!

That really is an option, but the doctor does it. He would be sawing off part of the big toe bone at the base...where it sticks out.

Nahhhh.

Surgery isn’t until 2:30pm. I’ll be starved by then.

Doctor said I could play at church this Sunday if I sat on a stool. I have one sitting there where I stand, I’ve used it before.

I’ll skip this time, I have a feeling it will be still painful. He gave me a script for oxy but I’m going to try to take as little as I can.

Told me I could get a wedge shoe on amazon so I could walk around when I feel like it.

Just sounds like a whole lotta fun to me!

Keep ahead of the pain, don't try to tuff it out. take the meds as often as the script says. No un-necessary suffering.

Rest easy tonight.
