Just pulled a set out of my 69 Bassman head.

Dropped in my usual JJs 6L6GCs & to my ears better

Not a knock on TAD 6L6GCs

I got the amp with them in it (I don't even know if they were a matched set. Or how much life was left on them?

The Tads had a nice defined bottom end and a bright top, but light on the middle. (mids)

Is that normal?

Again not a knock on Tads, so many amps take tubes differently. JJs are rounder and warmer but not as deep or bright, but they have the middle (talking about in my Bassman. )

Does anyone use Tads? Is that a fair description?

I don't do much tube swapping in my amps once I find ones that aren't noisy or microphonic and can be properly biased.

My 1970 Vibrolux Reverb has sounded great with a pair of TAD 6L6GCs for quite a few years now. This is my main gigging amp and I check it on a regular basis for bias level to see if the tubes might be drifting but they seem very stable.

I've also had good experience with JJs but in a different amp so I can't directly compare them.

Tads have a good reputation I'm thinking either they were not matched, or old...

Generally, we all gravitate to a decent tube I think mine are JJs, seems my ears like them
