FDP Forum / Fender Amps: 1985 - Current / DRRI gets dark after a couple of gigging hours

I have DRRI that tends to darken the tone after it
has been gigged for a couple of hours.... Tends to get really dark and more bass than setting should allow.... please give me some suggestions.

First thing to do is swap in good tubes for the ones in the amp, one by one.

Start with the 12AX7 in the V1 position. Swap it and play for a minute or two. No improvement? Replace the original tube in the V1 position and swap V2. Play again, and continue through the 6V6s in the power section.

Next would be to test the power supply filter caps to see if they're in spec. Leaky caps can make an amp sound dark, dull, and lifeless. They are considered wear items and should be tested/replaced if they're older than 15 or 20 years.
