The hardest part for me is after the piano solo. On the record, he plays in the key of A a Mixolydian lick around the fifth fret than a descending country style sweep pick, then he transitions into a descending chromatic run.

There isn't a Blue note on this tune hence the fingering and the phrasing is either country or jazz (all done at 148 blast beats a min. ya wow! )

Country's chords progression typically is I IV V and Jazz is a IV V I and it shows in Brent Mason's phrasing.

It's damn near too fast for me. ( a lot of guys I see play it on the Internet but if you notice it's no where the speed of 148 beats per min like the song) I have to practice and practice to get up to that speed because I don't naturally play songs at this tempo.

Get a chance it's worth studying. It's like a lifetime of country licks compacted into one instrumental while being an exercise in the passing tone. (and equal to any shedder instrumental known)

Try playing the pedal steel solo some time. ;>))

I have this album on cassette. I bought it about 20 or so years ago when it came out. It's been a while but it is very listenable, and not a blow you away with chops on every song affair.

Jeez, I would not even attempt to play that. The fact that you can even come close is impressive!
