I’ll be honest , I was skeptical. I really was, but I think my 5420t sounds great with the dsl40c. For starters , that’s a pretty nice amp. Great cleans and the crunch channel with a ts9 on the bridge pickup, it sounded great. Malcolm had it right. Such sweet crunch that wasn’t Gibson , but it’s own voice. Really nice stuff I tell ya.

I’ll add Billy Duffy of The Cult.

I’ll admit, I haven’t played mine through a Marshall yet. 0-:

My 6128 sounds fabulous through my 1970 JMP small box so I am not surprised at all.

The overdriven sound was glorious and the cleans were very nice . The dsl has some of the nicest clean tones of any amp I’ve had except maybe my old 59 bassman ri.

The first Marshalls were a bit of a Tweed Bassman knockoff. So that makes sense. (-:

I’ll blame Bud and this particular thread. I just ordered a G5420LH in black. (-:

I found it on Reverb - new from a shop in NY. I got a substantially better deal.

I will get around to this soon, particularly because I have a center block model guitar now.

I just landed a nice Streamliner (posted in my Gretsch thread in the lefty forum) and I love it to death.

It’s funny because a year ago I knew *nothing* about Gretsch guitars.
