My new Gretsch G5655TG Center Block Jr. is the best playing Gretsch I've owned or played to date.

It plays much easier that the expensive MIJ Silver Jet I used to own AND it stays in tune when using the Bigsby.

And I've not done anything to set up the guitar, it was good "as is." I didn't even have to lube the nut!

Woo hoo!

ps - I bought a Gretsch case for it.

Yes, it's the only Gretsch I currently own.

I bought this at Edmond Music. I went there to buy guitar strings and ran into this Gretsch which had just come in (it debuted at winter NAMM this year).

I just bought a 5420 and couldn’t be happier. Flawless guitar and after I set the action it plays like butter. I can’t see a reason to buy a more expensive MIJ Gretsch.

What a cool guitar.. too bad it has gold hardware I'd be an owner if it had nickel/chrome.

I recall playing a Reverend Horton Heat signature 6120 that very cool in several respects, but it wouldn't stay in tune when I used the Bigsby for rockabilly playing.

I had the same experience with a Chet Atkins 6120.

So why pay more for a MIJ model if a similar MIC Gretsch model is just as good or (in some cases) better?

You can't hear $$$.

I'd go with this model except it's too similar to my old ES-335...center block and all.

willie - The G5655TG body is the size of a Pro Jet (i.e., similar to a Les Paul body).

Thus you need one after all. (;oD
