One has to be an American speaker w/ a seamed cone junkie for this post to be interesting...

Not sure, but I'm thinking the OEM Fender is the generic version of Em Legend 1258. An analogy, the Fender Oem is a generic cola (which I've been drinking thinking it was the real cola.)

I just bought a used 5e3x2 that is housed in a regular 5e3 cab, due to the 4 6v6s a ceramic speaker is the only thing that fits.

Tried a lot of speakers including a used Eminence Fender Oem 1258, then got an actual Eminence 1258 half off at GC(had a blemish, where IDK...) big difference, very close to some old oxfords I tried.

Keeping the Em 1258 in the 5e3x2. I see why Victoria amps use this speaker. Even though it's a ceramic and were talking tweed < most prefer alnico... The Em legend 1258 is a Great fit tone wise.

Anyone else hear a big difference between the Fender oem 1258 and Eminence's actual 1258?

There may be a difference.

I say "may" because when manufacturers order in bulk like this from OEM suppliers, specs can vary from the normal-production OEM stuff.

I wouldn't be surprised if they were different.

It's interesting.

My ears are saying there some form of "proprietary" difference between the Fender Oem and Em 1258.

I don't know if it's the amp (5e3x2) or what... never had a speaker move so far in an initial break-in also.
