Any of you guys notice the trend of groups starting to live stream performances on social media? Complete with virtual tip jar? I’m not sure what I think about it. On the one hand, it just doesn’t seem right to me, but in some ways I can’t really fault someone for using all the tools available.

I’m also seeing a trend of putting your Venmo name by the tip jar, because a lot of people don’t tend to carry cash anymore or so they say. Personally, if I’m going out to listen to music, I make sure I have cash to tip the band with. It’s only a matter of time before the FB police shut them down anyway for broadcasting live performances of copyrighted material. I won’t be doing it anytime soon, that’s for sure.

Haven't seen this yet, but at least one street busker in my nearest city started taking contactless card payments last year.

Pretty lame, I think. I’d never do it.

But like you mentioned—these players are simply using the tools available.

I'm sure I'm jsut too old fasioned to get with the times. Our audience usually isn't on the leading edge of technology so I'm not sure how much we'd benefit from it anyway. Most of the ones I see doing it cater to the younger crowds so it may work very well for them.

Yeah, that's been going on a while now. I think anyway you can get someone to contribute, you should consider it. It's easy!
