FDP Forum / Fender Guitars: Telecasters / Fake replacement Telecaster Neck?

A guy is selling me a (cheap) never used 2018 Fender USA Telecaster replacement neck.

There is something about the logo, the lack of a skunk stripe and the lack of pre-drilled holes that make me wonder if it is real.

Can anybody here spot if this is a fake or real?

That neck is not a genuine Fender neck; original or replacement.

If it's cheap, it might be an OK neck for what it is.

I built a guitar with a cheapie neck, last year. The heel was a tad wider than spec. I actually sanded the heel back - which is not what should be done. The guitar worked out fine, in the end.

But if you're expecting Fender quality, give it a pass.

It's not a fake neck; it's an actual guitar neck :o)

As pointed out above, it's a cheap import neck with a Fender decal slapped on the headstock.

It's probably worth $30 max. Pass on it and let some less-informed buyer get soaked. Sometimes a seller honestly does not know when they're selling a fake item--but that is rare.

With guitar stuff, many buyers are extremely impulsive. They buy something...and once they have it in their hands, their Spidey Senses start tingling and only *then* do they do a little research. They find out they got scammed.

Sadly, many people in this situation try to pass off their ignorance to someone else in order to recoup their loss. I think that's probably what this seller is doing.

It's good that you did your homework before handing over your hard-earned money and getting conned.

Welcome to the FDP, vidar.
