I've been working this one up to sell. In fact, it just listed on Reverb.

The body is a 1 piece pine from USA Custom Guitars - on Reverb. I stained it lemon yellow and then mixed some of the same dye into some wipe-on Poly-Crylic for a glossy, sealed finish. It's not a perfectly smooth, "glass-coated" guitar finish. It has imperfections in it if you look up close. I wanted to keep this a thin-skin guitar.

The neck is a new roasted maple Warmoth boatneck profile, 1-11/16" Tusq nut. Gotoh 16:1 tuners. The frets are their nickel-free copper alloy which gives them the gold color. They are their GD6150 which are medium frets. They are almost as hard as stainless steel, so fret life should be exceptional. Frets have been leveled, crowned and polished. Although the neck needed no finish, I applied Tung Oil to make the grain pop a little more.

The pickups are GFS Lil' Punchers - the cool set. Bridge Ohms out at 6.5k and the neck 5.8k. Full-sized Alpha pots, an Oak-Grigsby 3-way switch and a Pure Tone Jack round out the electronics. This guitar is 25.5" scale, weighs 6 lbs. 14 oz. and plays extremely well. The tones are along the lines of Vintage Tele, but a bit more hi-fi in nature. These humbuckers do a nice job of noise rejection, too.

Cool idea... this reminds me of those St. Louis Blues guitars (I think) which mixed LP Junior body shapes with Tele hardware...

It is quite the cool guitar. I’m not going to give this away via a low offer. If I get stuck with it... well... something else can go.

I might actually be interested in this one... a young college guy in my church just put together a Warmoth Tele with a roasted maple neck; I saw it last night and, man, that neck was NICE!

Let me know when it's listed on Reverb (link?).

Done.

It's mine now!

Thanks, Eric - looking forward to adding this one to my "Tele" stable (the one niche of my electrics that's growing...)!

Lol

Hey Mike, you can rename it. It was pretty easy to find on Reverb, huh?

It was such a new listing that it popped up on the first page, so I didn't put in any particular search words. I'd seen your pics here, so I knew what I was looking for...

So here's how the Banana-caster looks currently (sorry - I'll get some better pics taken soon); I tried a different neck on it that I think matches better (and the wonderful baked Maple neck will go on one of my other Teles...)

I'm hoping to get the different pickups popped in this afternoon - will post after that gets done.

Banana-caster in process...

Love that neck on that guitar! It works with the body so well between the color and headstock shape. I might do this with the next one of these bodies I order.

I’m going to build one for myself.

I like that neck better than the maple on this guitar. My eyes always struggle with six-on-a-side headstocks on gibyy-style guitars (ala, Dave Grohl)

Exhibit A

I haven’t done a 3+3 headstock build in a while.

The roasted maple is all that, huh?

Well, didn't have time to get this rewired the other day - work just gets in the way of my hobbies, y'know?

But - my wife is leaving town this afternoon and will be gone through the weekend - so I'm thinking I'll get a couple wiring projects done Saturday (and also maybe try that baked maple neck on another guitar)!

It's been so long since I warmed up the soldering iron...
