I use EZ Drummer 2 in Logic X for recording. I have a lot of various beats available, but what I don't have are some useful things like a choked cymbal hit or a snare flam as kick in. I can take an existing beat and remove all the things I don't want, but that's tedious, and I can't seem to save the edited beat from the timeline. EZD has some beat recording functions, but I don't have a midi controller, and trying to tap on the drum icons doesn't work for me either. Any suggestions?

Have you bought any of the expanded kits/modules? I'm not at home but I'm sure I have that in various expansions I've purchased for EZD2.

I'm not familiar with Logic (just ask my wife, nyuk-nyuk), but I assemble my tracks in EZD, import it into Pro Tools and do my edits there (volume, velocity, etc). Tedious, yes. But I got time and like the minutiae.

I do have various expansion modules, but they featured 4 beat patterns. I think I may have a solution though it is tedious. I found a pattern with the "flam" I wanted in EZD and put it in the timeline in Logic. Using the piano roll editor, I removed everything but that little flam, shortened the pattern, named it and saved it to Apple loops. I added it to favorites in the loop bin, so now when I want it, it's right there.

Have you looked in any of the expansion modules for one shots? As I recall those are where I found muted crashes, cymbal swells, etc.

And yeah, midi editing in the piano roll is pretty much where I customize everything.

So looking at EZD2 I see some one-shot options under Modern/Vintage-Extras. Under the Vintage Rock expansion I see some more "Extras". I also have a variety of options with various Groove Monkee libraries I picked up. You probably already know this but each drum kit has a "V" drop down below each piece with options there for different articulations/voicing.

My favorite expansion kit is the Nashville one. I find myself using that one 90% of the time.
