My No. 1 Lefty customer brought in a brand new Player Series Strat this afternoon.

I have to say Fender has done a good job with these. (except for the set-up)
I thought most of the previous MIM stuff was very good, despite the stock ceramic bar pickups.

The new series offers proper alnico pole pickups and they sound great. Well, as much as I can play a lefty :^(

Two other standout improvements are the 2-point vibrato and bridge tone "mod" already done.

Factory set-up is pretty crap. I presume the store that sold it just pulled it out of the box and hung it on the wall.

Oh well, mo' money fo' me!

I bought a loaded HSH Player Strat body and added a Warmoth neck. Body is heavy, I thought the middle single coil looked really cheap, replaced it with a Wilde Noisefree. I really dig the 2 point trem setup but did change out what I thought were cheap saddles.

I bought one of those trems from Stratosphere and used it on my last Strat build. Like!

If I were more a Strat guy I’d have one (the whole guitar, not just parts).

I've not cared for any of the Player Series Strats I've tried out. They play stiff and they're too heavy.

Perhaps I used the best part, then.

A classic case of to each his own here.

Larry, I assume the HB's passed the sniff test then? FWIW, I haven't peeked under the hood (yet) so I can't remark on the "cheap looking" part.

As for the saddles, they are bog standard bent metal which I'm not really a fan of (I prefer solid steel block saddles) but looked just the any other MIM or Squier CV bent saddle.

"They play stiff and they're too heavy."

Could be the crap factory set-up I mentioned.
I don't find it particularly heavy either, but again, that's just my take.

I'm not saying if it were *my* guitar I wouldn't change anything. My observations and comments were based on a out-of-the-box perspective.
