For the first time in my 30+ years of playing, I now own a classical nylon string guitar. I played my sister’s, and liked it. I found a 70s Suzuki model for very cheap, and snapped it up. The guitar is very well preserved. Probably spent most of its life in a case. The strings may have been on it since the beginning, and for all I can tell. I have never bought nylon strings before. Oh FDP sages, what is a good and not-too-expensive set of strings that I should get?

D'addario Pro Arte Nylon normal tension EJ45 set. Affordable and as good as strings that run three or four times the cost.

Look online for instructions on how to tie them at the bridge and attach to the tuners. They're not like typical guitar strings the way they attach at both ends; the strings' construction and materials require specific anchoring to keep them from slipping out.

It's not hard to do after you do it once or twice.

This is a good one

I usually go for the Savarez high tension strings. They just feel better to me! They seem to be more durable also.

+1 Savarez HT Classic. I started on the red "normal" tension, and quickly moved to the High Tension Blue...540J's.
If you play a 'normal' guitar regularly, just get the Blues.

Thanks for doing the research for me, Peegoo! That was definitely something I was going to have to learn.

On another matter, the tuning machines are not smooth and kinda sticky. I think just from age and oxidation. What do y'all use to lubricate these?
