CO2 ... is there anything it can't do?

I got a mouse in one of the snap traps this morning. The little beast was just detained by his tail, but seemed OK otherwise.

It didn't seem very sporting to finish him off when he was in that position, so I walked him across the street and flicked him off into the woods.

But if he comes back, he'll have to run the gauntlet again.

I used to own a pest control company.

You my friend, are what I used to refer to as part of the problem, rather than the solution, call a pro next time!

Kidding, I'm sure the little rascal will repay your kindness by returning and eating the starter wires of your car.

^^ Yeah -- I know. And we have a cat who has also evidently gone soft.

Last time that happened, I whacked his head against the floor and threw the corpse onto the BLM across from us as a warning.

I am a little soft here and there (moobs, I'm talking to you!) but not when it comes to rodents. And to think, I had pet lab mice as a kid...

Last one I got on a glue trap went into a trash bag, was flipped over, and stepped on outside on the sidewalk. Then I just tied the bag and put it in the trash.

I guess in this respect only, I’m not soft.

Why not just flush it down the toilet? That's what my mom did with our rat sized gerbils.

^^ I had a choice -- kill it, or let it go. It's not like it was a threat.

I remember when my dad found one in the garbage can in his bedroom. He put a book on top of the can then reached in, grabbed the little pooper up and squeezed the life out of him right there.

It's just a natural part of gaining wisdom, and insight. I've seen this in my father, and myself. I occasionally will let critters live. I'll slow my roll with the lawnmower if I see a honey bee as they're harmless and a very important part of the ecosystem. They better haul ass though, and they always do.

I'll give Daddy Long Legs a pass if they stay in the corner and eat fast spiders. If they get in the bathroom, it's not going to end well for them.

"We had a deal!"

I however have no sympathy for mice, rats and Yellow Jackets.

It's easier to dispatch mice with a pellet gun from a distance when the trap just gets their tail. Safety glasses required, especially if you use a BB gun.

That doesn't sound easier. Or very sportsmanlike!

Ya, it was war one year. I came home from a two month trip, and discover they had invaded my Garage, and made their way under the house via a hole behind the furnace. I ended up killing two rats, and probably 8 mice. They got in the garage because the roll up door base gaskets are wore out on the ends. Leaves a little gap. There were two items in the garage that attracted them. A bag of bird seed, and a 5 gallon jug of chicken deep fryer grease which was brand new in the box. A rat had chewed through the cardboard box, and then through the plastic jug to get to the coagulated grease.

Once under the house, they found access under the tub show combo via the drain where it goes through the floor. Next I heard them at night in the attic.

At that point I wasn't playing Mr. Nice guy.

I'm not a friend of the rodent -- otherwise, I wouldn't have trap out, right?

This little peckerhead made eye contact with me and I let my human slip out.

If I find his broken ass tail in a trap a week or so down the line, I'll feel no remorse.

I had a rat get into my house last week. Never realized how big they get. Too big for snap traps really. Tried electronic traps. Finally lined one of the stair treads with glue traps . It got stuck on the glue traps and fell down the stairs only to get its leg caught in the snap trap.

I woke up in the morning saw the some glue traps missing , saw him caught his leg on the snap trap. I went in the garage and grabbed a garden rake ( because it was the closest weaponry available ). I hit it square and broke the rake , hit him 2 more times with the handle to make sure he was dead and threw him in the trash. No sir , I have no love for rodents at all.

Back during the broadcast of The Holocaust, we were living in a run-down house with plenty of access for rodents. We bought a Have a heart trap and we would relocate the critters to a brush pile in the woods we dubbed the Family Camp.

Here it is, 35 years later, and we've moved into a previously-unoccupied home. It seems the mice have had the run of the place for the last year or so. We are in a fierce battle for domestic dominance at this point so its no-holds-barred. They seem to laugh at the glue trsps, so its either snap traps or poison. The victims get flushed.

39 years ago I was a store manager working two doors down from a movie theater. We think the mouse was attracted to its concession stand. Anyway, it found itself on my desk as I was working there. Right in front of me!

With my hard heart and quick reflexes, I took the repair log and the sales journal and crushed it between these two books. I then took it to the dumpster.
