I also wear the Jungle Mocs. I always wore my regular size. Last year I bought a new pair of the waterproof variety instead of the regular ones, and found they were a little smaller fitting, so I sold them on eBay and this year I bough them up one size.

I’m not sure if this is due to a manufacturing change on their part, or because shoes with a Gore Tex (or similar) lining typically run smaller.

I find they run true to size (for me). I've got a total of four pairs of Moab variations (boot and shoe, two waterproof, two not). I love them and wear them with medium weight cotton crew or merino wool socks (all from Costco).

I'd recommend buying directly from Merrell and asking for a discount. Free returns as I recall. I bought my first pair from a local outdoors store and, while a bit worn in the sole, carry them in the LLC so I've always got some hiking boots with me (I wear boat shoes a lot but they're no good for long walks).

I've got 3 pairs of Merrell's right now.

The sizing varies from pair to pair, depending on the individual shoe.

I recommend Shoes.com, you can almost always get between 20-30% off and while they don’t offer free returns, they do offer you unlimited free exchanges for a different size, different style, or different item altogether.

And they carry a pretty full line of Merrell.

Every pair I've owned have been true to size for length and width. My only gripe about them is the inner sole: it's the cheapest flat foam type that goes even flatter after a week or two of wear. Stick some good gel soles in there with arch support and it a completely different--and much better shoe.

The Keen brand generally are a bit wider in the toe box, and the Vasque brand is the opposite: fairly narrow in the toe.

Peegoo, it's the lack of arch support that works for me. I can't wear shoes with a strong arch. Different feet and all.

They run about a 1/2 size small for me and my wife.

I usually need a 13 wide or 14, or 14 wide depending on who makes them. Peegoo, I usually do the swap for gel inserts on everything.

Will probably gamble on a 13 wide. I find a 'lot' of shoes and boots, just too darn narrow.

Thanks everyone!

Couple things - normally, I wear an 11.5 medium in shoes like my Top-Siders. With most sneakers and Merrell's, I wear a 12 medium. As to the inserts and my somewhat high arched foot, I find the stock inserts to be fine and supportive. I finally replaced the inserts on my 4-5 year old original Moabs some months ago. Merrell sent me new inserts at no cost with an order for some low-top Moabs.

Gel inserts are too squishy for me.

Just pulled the trigger. Ended up buying at Merrell as Shoes.com didn't have the boots I zeroed in on.

Oh my goodness. Between all my bad joints, back you name it, I don't love tying I will admit. I just hope they slip on nice. Some slip on boots are too hard to get started.

My Moabs run about the same as the upper end New Balance walking shoes. True to size.

I like my Merrell's just fine, but have really come to love the pair of Oboz hiking shoes I bought about 6 months ago.

Sturdy, rugged, and super-comfy. You guys should check 'em out.

Odd name, good shoes and boots

“I usually need a 13 wide or 14, or 14 wide depending on who makes them.“

We wear the same size, my former pair were 13 medium and were too small. I went up to the 14 and they feel great.

I wore 13M in most styles for a long time, but wide width seems to be the way to go for me in sneakers. Other shoes in wide are too wide.

Ya, I don't know if my feet got wider, or if shoes changed. At some point in the last several years I had to go to the wides.

Peegoo, ya I might have to think about something like that. Could probably make something myself. Then I could use Apple for the handles. :)

Being 6'5.5" and being built like Doug Heffernan does not make it easy putting on the footwear. Add to that sketchy knees, left hip, and a spine full of surprises.

I think our feet change along with the rest of us as we age. Through my 30's, I had to order narrow fits for my dress shoes. Today, depending on the last, I need mediums and even those can be a bit tight (rarely).
