Hi Forumates, i bought a fender MIM here in the Philippines. is it normal for a Fender bass to have a static/ground sound? since its a noiseless pick up and i assume this one is a faulty one. Can i have it replaced? Please help me solve this one. Thanks for the answer

It would help to do some troubleshooting first to rule out other causes before you replace a pickup.

What sort of noise is it? A buzz that's always there even when your hand is on the strings? If that's the case, reach down and place a fingertip on the metal barrel of the cable in the bass's output jack. If it gets quieter, you found the problem. This is a test to see if the string ground is missing.

If the above does not solve the problem, try the following:

- Play the bass using a different cable

- Play the bass through a different amp (even a guitar amp is okay to test these things)

- Take the bass and amp to another location (a friend's house) and try it there

Let us know what you discover.
