an acquired taste some may never acquire

Missed this when it happened. I enjoyed QMS back in the day and still listen to a few of their tunes periodically. Preferred them to the Dead, though they never made as big a "splash".

QMS was the first "psychedelic" band I ever saw perform live (in Riverside, CA, of all places). Riverside was a pretty cracker town back in 1966.

I'll take QMS over the "Dead". I thought they captured that era as well as any band. "Spirit" is another group that captures it for me. I surf old Fillmore West posters on occasion, even acquire some, and the QMS posters always catch my eye.
