Just saw an exact copy of my first electric guitar on ebay. Red 1981 Fender USA Bullet..I wish I hadn't traded it away many years ago! |

Felt the same way about a Fender Lead III that I sold in '91. It took 22 yrs and an auto accident where I was struck by car while crossing the street to fully appreciate the stupidity of doing so. I've since replaced it at three times what I originally paid and now use it as physical/neurological therapy for the traumatic brain injury, wrists/hand fractures and dislocated thumbs I suffered. I have gone through a succession of other Fender models since I returned to playing in Dec of '08 none felt "right" until the acquiring another Lead III. To keep from wearing the frets I often play a NY Pro Tele copy. It's funny I don't miss the mid-late 70's Memphis Les Paul copy I bought in '80, that would always leave bruises on my right forearm.

They say "You can't go home again", well in certain circumstances you can and the quality of Fender guitars makes that possible. Buy it ! |

I love my '82 Bullet. It's just a standard one with the Strat type body and the Tele neck. I actually love the fixed bridge which is part of the pickguard. The PG, BTW is made from aircraft grade aluminum so it's pretty darn solid! Thing rarely goes out of tune. It's a great gigging axe as it has it's share of scrapes and bumps. I also changed the PU's out and put a Strat in the neck position and a SD Hotrails in the Bridge. Love this little guitar! And yeah, they were they lower end of the spectrum but- they were John Page's first design for Fender! He fondly recaps losing Bullet #0001 in a fire at the factory! These are great little sleeper guitars and with the Tele neck, they play real silky and smooooth!! Get one before the prices go outahand!! |
