Have a chance to buy a clean brown Pro. have only seen pics and gotten the details over the phone thus far.<br /> It is a 6G5 then the A added in ink. Original owner's kid is selling it. can not make out the date code on the tube chart as it was really not applied well and no way to discern it. <br /> But it has the following transformers in it, which a couple of them do not jibe with the SVVA site chart. I was curious if anyone could offer some input on the transformers which are in it:<br /> Power-67233 date code: 606112<br /> Choke-125C1A date code: 606117<br /> Output-45217 date code: 606117<br /> <br /> now the choke lists as correct but the power and output transformers do not list as 'correct' if one goes strictly by the book and we know that Fender did not always do that. but neither power or output transformer types were those stated to be used in the tweed Pros either. the power and output transformers appear to be what you would find in an early brown bandmaster combo. correct?<br /> the dates are consistent and the history of ownership suggests to me that this was maybe Fender just screwing around with transformer configurations and that it probably is factory.<br /> the Oxford speaker is 15M6-1 465-123<br /> serial number 03752<br /> oh, this also has the oxblood grill on it. <br /> is it safe to assume this is a 61. volume control is Not center. should I worry much about the trannys not matching? thanks for any input. |

If I assume by the speaker date that this amp was at the earliest a July 61 amp I can more or less theorize that with what we know about Fender doing strange transitional things during this period, that it is not impossible for them to have used this combination. Every power transformer I am seeing though on these Pros has been a 125P7A. the SVAA guide even gets that one wrong by a letter saying it's a 125P7D. strange transformer layout if one goes by what is usually found in these Pros. I might well jump on this one. |

I am finding that the transformer data chart is lacking comprehensive info to say the least. I was just looking at past auctions. here is a 1960 brown which has an identical transformer configuration (link below). So this layout was used on some early Pros apparently, but seems to be most prevalent with the early 5 preamp tube configuration non-A circuit. This one has the early transformer layout and the 6 preamp tube 'A' circuit with the sweet vibrato. I think knowing these transformers have been in the early browns in security enough for me to take a leap on this Pro. |

my '62 pro 6G5 (wheat grill) has the set of transformers typically listed in those transformer lists.<br /> <br /> at least those older transformers are still there and presumably working.<br /> <br /> also, rest assured if CV owned that 1960 amp (sold last year), <br /> then it was an amp to own. |

That guy actually resold a few months later and took a loss!I got near 2K, I was happy with that given the situation. <br /> <br /> All those 5 preamp tube models from 1960 had the 67233 PT. <br /> <br /> Saw the thread on Roy's concert. I was toying with mine last couple of. I was able to save 2 original cones with rubber cement surrounds. Little rips in paper sound like a blown coil. |
