sonically between

filtertron

and the

dyna sonic pups

because im jonesing for a gretsch but wont get much of a chance to play one since no one with 100miles of me stocks a lefty guitar let alone a lefty gretsch |

For starters, Filtertrons are humbucking, so they are much quieter in a "dirty power" situation. They are quite a bit chimier than a typical Gibson-style humbucker, and can jangle nicely with the volume rolled back a little. Cranked up, they growl really well. Through a Marshall 50-watt heat, you have Malcolm Young's tone.

The Dynasonics are single coil, and they generally sound somewhere in between a Strat pickup and a P-90, but with a bit of a midrange hump for a throatier tone. Duane Eddy tone ("Rebel Rouser").

Both pickups are sensitive to picking dynamics; they can be very clear-sounding when picking/strumming lightly, and will bark with authority when driven hard. |
