How does the Egnater Renegade 112 compare with the Rivera Fandango in sound quality? Looks like about half the price.

Thanks,
RRC |

"I've had a Tourmaster 4212 for a while now, but I can only gig it in the summer when my son is home from school, as I can't load it in my car by myself..."

Hah! Too funny!

We rock 'n' rollers are gettin' old when our KIDS have to help move our gear around! (Does Keith Richards have any kids?)

I actually end up helping my son move his JSX head and Legacy 412 cab in and out of the basement from time to time...

(Edited to stay on topic: I've played both the 20 and 30 heads and like 'em both ... just don't need another amp right now.) |

"How does the Egnater Renegade 112 compare with the Rivera Fandango in sound quality? Looks like about half the price."

I have a Fandango. The Egnater gain is a little more articulate, less sag. I think the Egnater excels at the high gain tones, whereas the Fandango excels at the low gain and clean tones.

Just my 2c. I love my Egnater Tourmaster, and really like the Renegade and Tweaker. That said, I think the Fandango is one of the best amps I've ever played. |

I guess the thing that makes these Egnater amps different is the power tube selector knob. On the clips I've heard I can't tell much of a change from one end of the dial to the other. What's your experience with that feature, is it really two amps in one?

RRC |

"What's your experience with that feature, is it really two amps in one?"
If you're leaving TMB strait up at 12:00 I don't think you will hear that big of a change (at first listen).
Move them around from full on to full off and you can hear the difference.

Two amps in one if you spend the time twisting the knobs to find out what they do!
Yep! imho

|

I didn't know about the 'silent record' feature on the Rebel 30. Anyone put this to use yet? |

"I didn't know about the 'silent record' feature on the Rebel 30. Anyone put this to use yet?"

Wow, it must have an internal load dump. |

EdMan57-Congrats! What speakers/cab you going to pair with it?

Mosquito-I haven't been able to find out how that works yet. Just curous as to how they can do that. |

Thanks, zenland.I can choose between a Celestion G12H-30 loaded 2-12 Lopo sealed slant front,a Celestion G12K-100 loaded Trutone Custom open 1-12 and a Lopo Large open 1-12 with a '80's vintage EVM12L.I'm thinking of also adding a Coyote Cabs slant front oversized 1-12 for an older G12H-30 that I have lying about in my gear closet.

Ed |

I tell ya what, man.

You ever have one of those time when you come home, plug in, and think "Gee, I dunno, I think it sounded a lot better back at the store?"

Well, this isn't the case here.

2 completely independent channels, that you can assign a tube blend to, say you want 6L6 on your clean and EL34 on the dirty... no problemo.

Also, you can assign the footswitch to turn on the reverb for only channel 1 and not on 2.

15/65 watts at the flick of a switch, and it doesn't sit there and hiss at idle.

Speakers are a 12" Celestion Vintage 30 and a 12" Egnater Elite-80 Speaker by Celestion.

$1200 at GC. I missed the big sale by a few days.

It's an awesome amp that does the singing blusey thing well.

Haven't really tried it in a hi-gain type of setting, but I have other amps for that.

It's a little heavier than I was expecting, but I'll deal with it.

|

Man, I'm really happy with this thing.

Plus, I still have a Mesa Boogie Mark IV, a Dual Rectifier half stack, and a Marshall MG250DFX.

I should be set for a while.

|

i just picked up a rebel 30 combo (my fender ultra light jazzmaster amp is fried)....wont use it till this weekend...i like the clean channel (in the store)...the gain has too much mid-range for me but i can only play with the setttings while on the job/gig, on the fly this weekend...(as i live in an apt)...any quick start settings suggested for the gain channel with a strat would be appreciated...???????? thanks so much... |
