My only gigging amp until 2001. Still like it a lot, but my smaller lighter ones are much easier for most of my gigs nowadays. What a great sound. |

My cousin has had a lifelong love affair with the TR. He's owned one of these for as long as I can remember. I've often thought the answer for this amp would be to separate the head from the speakers. (Hey Fender.....how'bout it?) |

Oh yeah.........I think your right! (ha) You know what's funny?........This same cousin also owned a Dual Showman back in 1962. It was a blonde piggyback with brown grill cloth. Only thing is it had two 15" JBL's with the metal cone caps. Very big amp as I remember. I guess I'm envisioning something a little more compact with respect to what would potentially be a two-piece TR. |

I had a blackface Twin Reverb when we lived back in New Jersey.

The amp used to belong to Luther Allison.

Sold the darn thing when we moved west in 1995.

Big mistake.

It was a great amp.

Heavy. But a great amp with great tone.

:o( |

One of the favorite patches on my Mustang III is the '65 Twin! It nails it! I've had other guitar players compliment the TR sound coming out of it! |

Recently purchased a reissue Twin Reverb in which someone removed the chassis from the original cabinet and placed it in late 60's,early 70's Fender head cabinet. I did some small things to the amp (pulled the middle two power tubes, pulled the channel 1 and replaced the phase inverter tube with the pulled 12ax7). I absolutely love this amp now. Was ok before but now it is fantastic. I have a 66 Bassman that I like, but it is way to mid heavy for my tastes. This Twin really does the job like none other in my mind. And the great part is takes pedals like no other I've had before. All I can say is I understand why there are so many Twin amp around. They are fantastic, I was always afraid of the 85 watts, but with these small changes, it's about as loud as my Bassman. I can use this amp in almost any setting I play in (bars, outside, etc). The only time I reach for the RI Deluxe Reverb now is when the setting is super small. LOVE THIS AMP!

I've had SO many amps in the past, mostly vintage Fender's with some other mixed in throughout the years (Fargen, Ampeg, Gibson, Mesa, etc). I don't know why I was so afraid of using a Twin, but now I will never look back.

Anyone else have this same experience or is it just me? ; )
|
