Happy 2006! Question: Does anyone know, what kind of wood was used in Marauderīs body? Alder? Basswood? Something else?
If you follow the link, youīll find Quilla H. Freemanīs patent for (Marauderīs) pupīs.

I would bet that they used Alder or Swamp Ash - those were (and still are) Fender USA's staple materials.

Mr. Dos has just posted a link to the entire '65-'66 full color catalog which includes the Marauder.
It's in the Vintage Amp Section

Does anyone know how many Marauders were produced and how many versions exist?

Does anyone actual own one? I have seen them in the Fender 65-66 catalog and have seen picts in a Fender "coffee table" book on a japanese collection (which the owner is utlra secretive!). But I have yet to see one in person. If anyone knows of a museum or public collection that has one to view, please let me know. Fender, themselves, do not know anyone whom owns one!

I think they're like the Jackalope - often photographed, never actually *seen*.

Although there are rumblings of an FDP Marauder revival project in the workings. Stay tuned...

Honourable FDP member Stratct knows a thing or two about various Marauder versions. Check out this discussion from 2001. Btw Stratct, is the book out yet?

There is, you just have to have real fast action. I find 11 guage strings hold the bread the best.

This is the best Marauder thread ever. Nice pics, many new links, actual patent data and now we are served toast!

I'd be interested to know what all of those crazy switches did. This thing looks more like a teisco than any fender.
