wagon wheel is a great choice....put me down for vocals on that one...

yes Allen we can do stones but not the whole catalog :)

Cant you hear me knocking is great but too long i fear. I can probably pull off the sax in the others without issue so lets decide which. Keys not a problem- just channel my inner Billy Preston

And where is Shadowwolf in this Stones conversation? He is a great nephew of Keef ya know ;)

he will want some input on stones tunes

OK for the Fall 2011 Fest I suggested "Poppa Gene's Blues" and got nothing
this time I suggested "what am I doing hangin Round" and got nothing

NOW Davy Jones is dead and you're planing a tribute!

.... and NO I didn't kill him just to get Monkees at Clamfest.. that's my story and I'm sticking to it. ;-)

"Last Train To Clarksville" would be kinda fun though

OR... I new a few punk bands in the early 80s (including this one form England called the Sex revolvers? or somehting?)that did killer covers of "not your Stepping stone"

Gman can YOU do a farfisa organ?

steve what can we say- you have awful timing brother! :)

And Last Train is a lot more reconizable..

I had a Farfisa years ago but the S-Woman thought it too ugly to be in her house. And since I live in her house (everything is hers LOL)it went

My Roland has similar tone wheels and can probably do a monophonic or polyphonic farfisa as well -yes I know Farfisas were polyphonic but making them mono is interesting in a Moody Blues kinda way

Didn't someone mention some Pink Floyd tunes? What do you guys think of Money and Astronomy Domine?

“Money” is a great tune. But to the uninitiated, “Astronomy Domine” is as obscure as “Obscured by Clouds.” I’d personally suggest something else from the catalog that’s a bit more recognizable.

more recognizable that's important. Lots and lots of great tunes out there, but when it comes time to signup, the more obscure tunes go empty. Money, Comfy Numb will get plenty of volunteers.

same goes for just about any band

post 69! my fav number.... sorry I digress

concur about not doing obscure songs unless they are easy enough, really cool and people jump to do them.

also any song with funky breaks or stops is a danger sign. Since we never practice together prior this is train wreck material

those that are in the classic genre and everyone knows and have these breaks are ok since most or all have played them before.

Any song suggestion really needs to have this group in mind. We as a group can probably do anything musically but that dont mean we may want to :) With that said we have done metal, punk, country, alternative, classic rock, R&B and even disco (Stones- Miss you). So unless its rap any genre is up for grabs

thats why this forum is a great way to test out a song to see if it gets love before it goes on a list. Those with a sing along chorus and are dancable upbeat reconizable songs are the best in my opinion - YMMV

Anything questionable should include a YouTube link so we can give a listen. I have been introduced to many new tunes on this form this way and loved them

"And where is Shadowwolf in this Stones conversation? He is a great nephew of Keef ya know ;)"-gman

I've received a communicae from Shadowwolf and he would like to play as Ronnie Wood. H e is requesting that we include for the Rolling Clones:

-Tumbling Dice
-All Down The Line
-Let Me Go

We should be hearing from him soon...

I'm down w/ Money and Comfy Numb. I was just trying to come up with different ideas. I agree w/ more familiar tunes and ones we can access through youtube.

I could maybe be one of the guitars on Crazy Train. I've played that song in my youth (what ever that is for a 31 year old). But I can't be *that* guitar player. Maybe I'll try bass for the first time. It has a cool bass line. Maybe we could follow up Crazy Train with War Pigs or Suicide Solution-my fav Ozzy song. Have we ever done Ozzy before?
