(submitted by LSR roller NUT )

Ingredients

1C Margarine(or shortening...whatever)
1/2C white sugar
1/2C brown sugar
2 egg yolks slightly beaten with 1 T. of water
2C sifted flower(I never sift but whatever)
1 tsp. vanilla 1 pkg.(6 oz actually)choc. chips
1/4 tsp. salt 1 tsp. B.Powder 1/4 tsp. B. Soda

Directions

Cream Margarine and sugar. add egg yolks(with the water), and vanilla. Blend.
Sift dry ingredients(or just mix well) Mix. It is a stiff dough, and may be a little crumbly. Pat on a GREASED cookie sheet- about 10x14 or large cake pan and sprinkle chocolate chips on top. Make a mixture of two egg whites(yes this means save the ones from before) beaten stiff. Add 1 cup brown sugar to the whites. Beat well. Spread on top of chocolate chips and bake at 350 for about 25-30 mins-or until just getting golden on top(you may want to check the inside bottom to see how it is cooking). Allow to stand until cool before cutting into squares. Our family usually puts them in our pantry in the winter to chill them.
