FDP Cookbook : Appetizers : Okra Poppers

Ingredients

okra
pepper jack cheese(or monteray jack cheese with diced jalapenos)
vegetable oil
flour
eggs
salt
pepper

Directions

the next time you're going to use your deep fryer, try this:

get a few dozen big (four or five inches) okra, the big hairy ones that stayed on the vine too long and are too big for pan frying or stewing

clean and dry the okra

slice them open and stuff with pepper jack cheese

drag them through some beaten eggs and dust them off with flour and salt and pepper

deep fry to a golden brown

okra poppers!

note: have cold beer ready
