Directions
In a bowl beat sugar and butter with an electric mixer on medium speed about 4 minutes or till fluffy. Stir in chocolate and vanilla. Add eggs, one at a time, beating on high speed after each addition and scraping sides of bowl constantly. Transfer to crust. Cover; chill for 5 to 24 hours or till set. If desired, top with unsweetened whipped cream and chocolate curls.

----------------------------------------------------
This originally called for a baked pastry shell, but we like it much better in an oreo cookie crust. While Mrs. Slacker would never buy a pre-made pie crust for regular pie, she does use the store bought oreo crust for this pie.
She does her own whipped cream and chocolate curls.
I always thought this was some secret recipe handed down over the generations in my wife's family. When I asked for the recipe, Mrs. Slacker said "It's in the Better Homes and Gardens cookbook". So I start digging through the myriad of handwritten recipes tucked into the pages therein, but to no avail. "No, it's a Better Homes and Gardens recipe" she tells me. So, nothing magical other than the taste and texture. |
